Sunoco Reports Leak in 10-Inch Pipeline Near Houston

Dec. 6 (Bloomberg) -- A Sunoco Logistics Partners LP 10-inch crude-oil pipeline that runs from Kilgore, Texas, to Houston leaked oil over the weekend, said Thomas Golembeski, a company spokesman.

“Crews were on site Saturday and Sunday engaged in cleanup activities,” Golembeski said in an e-mail today from Philadelphia, where Sunoco Logistics is based.

The pipeline was undergoing scheduled maintenance at the time of the release and is not in service, he said.

The company was removing crude from the line when a pinhole leak was found Dec. 4, Ramona Nye, a spokeswoman for the Texas Railroad Commission, said in an e-mail.

An estimated 65 barrels was spilled near Livingston, 77 miles (125 kilometers) northeast of Houston, according to Nye. The release has not been secured, the filing showed.

There is no impact to customers, according to Golembeski. The cause is being investigated and the amount of oil released is being determined, he said.
