Cameroon’s Arabica Farm Gate Prices Drop 0.8% in Week to Dec. 5

Cameroon’s arabica coffee farmgate prices declined 0.8 percent during the week to Dec. 5, according to the Northwest Cooperative Association.

The average price of “washed and dried” arabica fell to 1,002 CFA francs ($2.02) a kilogram (2.2 pounds) from 1,010 francs a week earlier, Waindim Timothy, administration and personnel manager at the cooperative, said in an e-mailed report from Bamenda, 400 kilometers northwest of the capital, Yaounde.

Export prices increased by 5.2 percent to 2,081 francs, according to Bloomberg calculations from the Cocoa and Coffee Board Statistics.

Cameroon’s northwest region accounts for about 70 percent of the Central African nation’s coffee production.
