Brazil Cotton Output Will Rise 40% This Season, USDA Unit Says

Cotton production in Brazil may jump to 7.65 million bales in the year that began in August, up 40 percent from a year earlier, after record prices spurred more plantings, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service said today in report on its website.

Exports are forecast to rise 15 percent to 2.295 million bales, the agency said. Brazil is the third-largest shipper of the fiber, behind the U.S. and India.
