Ireland to Cut Welfare Payments, Lower Tax Bands, Tribune Says

Dec. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Ireland’s government will cut social welfare payments by 5 percent, reduce child benefit by 10 euros ($13.40) per month and lower tax bands to ensure more workers contribute to the budget, the Sunday Tribune reported.

The measures will form part of a government package to be outlined on Dec. 7, part of a plan to reduce the country’s deficit, the Dublin-based newspaper said, citing unnamed people.
