Dortmund Opens 10-Point Lead in German Soccer; Juventus Wins

Dec. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Borussia Dortmund extended its lead in German soccer’s Bundesliga to 10 points with a 2-0 victory at Nuremberg.

Mats Hummels opened the scoring in the 23rd minute yesterday and Robert Lewandowski got the second goal two minutes from the end. Dortmund has won 13 of its 15 league games, with one draw and a loss.

Second-placed Mainz, on 30 points, lost 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt two days ago. Bayer Leverkusen had a 3-2 win over Cologne yesterday to overtake Hanover and go a point behind Mainz. Defending champion Bayern Munich is seventh after a 2-0 loss at Schalke.

AC Milan leads Italy’s Serie A on 33 points after beating Brescia 3-0 two days ago. Lazio is three points behind in second after inflicting a fourth loss of the season on defending champion Inter Milan, which is now in sixth place.

Third-place Juventus is six points off the lead after beating Catania 3-1 last night. Sampdoria defeated Bari 3-0 earlier yesterday to join Inter, Palermo and Roma on 23 points.

Barcelona still leads the Spanish standings after a 3-0 win at Osasuna two days ago, with second-placed Real Madrid two points behind after a 2-0 victory over Valencia. Villarreal, in third, has 30 points after a 1-0 win over Sevilla.

Lille went top of the French standings after a 6-3 win over Lorient yesterday. Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes are a point behind and Marseille is a further point back after a 1-0 injury-time loss at Nice.

In the Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven, a 5-2 winner over Heracles Almelo yesterday, leads on goal difference from FC Twente, which beat De Graafschap 2-0.
