Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Nasdaq OMX Inc. and Nord Pool Spot AS’s N2EX U.K. power exchange are ready to start offering intra-day electricity contracts, according to an e-mail sent to customers.

A date hasn’t been set to start the within-day market, the bourse said in the e-mail obtained by Bloomberg. N2EX said the market council, a panel of traders that work with the exchange, recognized “adequate time needs to be given in order to ensure those members who intend to participate in the intraday market are technically ready.”

APX-Endex, the Amsterdam-based exchange, is currently the only provider of within-day electricity contracts. The exchange traded 961 gigawatt-hours of within-day contracts in November, which they said was a record, according to information published on their website today.
