Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Malawi’s President Bingu wa Mutharika suspended the Malawi Electoral Commission for failing to account for 1.4 billion Malawi kwacha ($9.3 million) in spending, Nyasa Times reported, citing a statement from the presidency and Cabinet.
The commission didn’t provide supporting documents or justify the expenditure, the Lilongwe-based newspaper said on its website. The electoral body will remain suspended until government finished an investigation, it said.
