Dassault to Win Mirage Modernization Contract, Tribune Says

Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Dassault Aviation SA, the French maker of combat jets and corporate planes, is expected to win a contract to modernize 51 Mirage fighter jets when French President Nicolas Sarkozy travels to India tomorrow, La Tribune said, without identifying where it got the information.

The contract for modernization of India’s 51 Mirage 2000-H jets is worth 2.2 billion euros ($2.9 billion), of which 900 million euros is for air-to-air Mica missiles made by MBDA, a missile maker owned by European Aeronautic, Defence & Space Co., BAE Systems Plc and Finmeccanica SpA, the newspaper said.

An agreement for the modernization of the planes has been announced many times but never formally sealed, the French daily said. While Sarkozy is expected to sign a protocol agreement during his visit to India, the final contract signature is expected in March, La Tribune said.
