Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Botswana raised the levy on alcoholic beverages by 10 percent to help curb alcohol abuse, Dorcus Makgato-Malesu, minister of trade and industry, said.
The increase became effective from Dec. 1, Makgato-Malesu told lawmakers today in the capital, Gaborone. President Ian Khama introduced a 30 percent levy an alcoholic drinks in 2008.
