Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, rose 5.2 percent.
Coal prices at the New South Wales port climbed to $111.24 a metric ton in the week ended today from $105.77 the previous week, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.
Xstrata Plc, the world’s largest exporter of power-station coal, BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group are among mining companies that ship coal through Newcastle.
