Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- The following stocks may rise or fall in South Africa. Symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the last close.
South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index advanced for a second day, adding 357.86, or 1.2 percent, to 31,145.18 in Johannesburg.
African Rainbow Minerals Ltd. (ARI SJ): The producer of coal, platinum and nickel holds its annual general meeting. The shares rose 12 rand, or 6.2 percent, to 205 rand.
Pioneer Food Group Ltd. (PFG SJ): The food company said it has offered 12 rand a share, or 827.8 million rand ($120 million), for liquor company KWV Holdings Ltd. The shares rose 75 cents, or 1.6 percent, to 48.75 rand.
Shares or American depositary receipts of the following South African companies closed as follows:
Anglo American Plc (AAUK US) added almost 3 percent to $23.41. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) rose 2.4 percent to $48.44. BHP Billiton Ltd. (BBL US) advanced 2.4 percent to $76.12. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) gained 1.5 percent to $4.84. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) climbed 3.5 percent to $17.37. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) rose almost 1 percent to $11.52. Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUY US) jumped 5.7 percent to $31.70. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) gained 5.7 percent to $5.37. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) rose 2.2 percent to $46.79.
