Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. envoy for Africa, Johnnie Carson, apologized to Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga for information that may be revealed through the release of secret diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks.org, the Daily Nation reported.
Carson, the American assistant secretary of state for African affairs, said the U.S. is sorry for the “content of the leaked documents,” without disclosing details, the Nairobi-based newspaper said today, citing government spokesman Alfred Mutua.
Wikileaks plans to release 1,821 diplomatic cables on the subject of Kenya dating from 1996 through to February this year, the newspaper said, without citing anyone.
