Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- The AEX-Index surged 8.39, or 2.6 percent, to 335.8 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Amsterdam, the biggest gain in three months. Belgium’s Bel20 Index rallied 2.4 percent to 2,565.84.
The following were among the most active stocks in Benelux markets today. Symbols are in parentheses.
Akzo Nobel NV (AKZA NA), the world’s biggest maker of paints, rose 1.4 percent to 42 euros, the biggest gain since Sept. 13. Royal DSM NV (DSM NA), the world’s biggest vitamin maker, added 1.8 percent to 38.28 euros. Both stocks were rated “overweight” in new coverage at HSBC Holdings Plc.
Royal Philips Electronics NV (PHIA NA) gained 3.3 percent to 21.49 euros. The world’s biggest lighting company confirmed its forecast for 2010 earnings before interest, taxes, and amortization, even as it predicted its television unit will be unprofitable.
