Western Refining Inc. expects a connection between its Yorktown terminal and deepwater port in Virginia and a Colonial Pipeline Co. line, according to a slide presentation on the refiner’s website.
Colonial, which operates the largest pipeline linking U.S. Gulf Coast refineries to East Coast markets, is discussing a new link with Western, Steve Baker, a company spokesman, said in an e-mail. The company is “optimistic an agreement will result in a new connection to Colonial by mid-2011,” he said.
Gary Hanson, a spokesman for Western, didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail seeking more information.
Western Refining Inc. shut its Yorktown refinery in September, citing poor East Coast refining margins. The refinery may be restarted if the economic outlook improves, according to the slide presentation.
