Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Vietnam Airlines Corp. said nine people were hospitalized after one of its aircraft encountered turbulence while en route to Paris.

The Boeing Co. 777 left Hanoi’s Noi Bai airport at 11:40 p.m. local time yesterday with 222 passengers and 15 crew, state-owned Vietnam Airlines said in a statement. It arrived in France at 7:15 a.m. local time today.

At total of 21 people were injured, with six passengers and three flight attendants sent to hospital in Paris, the airline said. Five of the nine have since been released.

The twin-engine 777 involved in the incident will be examined before being returned to Hanoi, Vietnam Airlines said.
