Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- India’s Chennai Super Kings won cricket’s Twenty20 Champions League following an eight-wicket victory against South Africa’s Warriors in today’s final.
Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey both scored half-centuries for Chennai as it reached its victory target with one over remaining in Johannesburg.
Chennai receives $2.5 million for winning the 10-team tournament, while the Warriors collect $1.3 million.
The Warriors struggled to 128-7 from their 20 overs, with spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Ravichandran Ashwin taking five wickets between them. Captain Davy Jacobs top-scored with 34.
In reply, Vijay and Hussey shared a 103-run opening partnership in their team’s 132-2. Vijay scored 58, while Hussey made 51 not out. Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit the winning boundary to finish unbeaten on 17.
