Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s Black Sea naval fleet will receive one or two new frigate warships a year from 2013, RIA Novosti reported, citing navy chief Vladimir Vysotsky.
“Kalinigrad shipyard already receieved an order from the Navy to build the first three ships of this type,” Vysotsky was quoted as saying. “In 2015 the Black Sea fleet should have at least five vessels of this type.”
Among the tasks envisaged for the vessels will be to protect shipping from Somalian pirates, he said.
