Enbridge Faces U.S. Investigation Over Pipeline, Globe Says

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Enbridge Inc. is facing an investigation by U.S. officials over complaints it coerced residents near its Michigan pipeline spill not to sue, the Globe and Mail reported.

Enbridge offered people whose homes were evacuated items such as air purifiers and hotel rooms in exchange for signing waivers giving up their rights to sue, the newspaper said, citing letters from a U.S. House of Representatives committee investigating the company’s July 26 spill.

Enbridge said it did nothing wrong and that the waivers were “standard” forms, the Globe reported.
