Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov and Anatoly Chubais, general director of state-run Russian Nanotechnologies Corp., asked Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to limit imports of microchips to help support the local industry, Kommersant reported, citing Alexander Khlunov, head of the government’s education and science department.

OAO Sitronics, the Russian electronics maker controlled by Yevtushenkov’s AFK Sistema, and Rosnano, as Russian Nanotechnologies is also called, last year agreed to form a 16.5 billion ruble ($535 million) joint venture to make microchips for use with products including Russia’s Glonass navigation system, Kommersant said.
