Aug. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Knight Capital Group Inc., the largest trader of U.S. shares, hired Todd Dahlstrom, Michael Cunningham and Eric Vander Mel from FBR Capital Markets Corp. for its credit sales and research group, according to three people familiar with the matter.
The three, who worked on FBR’s leveraged finance unit, will join the Boston office for Jersey City, New Jersey-based Knight, said the people, who declined to be identified because the hiring hasn’t been publicly announced. FBR hired the three from Morgan Stanley after the investment bank began building out its credit trading and origination business in April 2009.
Dahlstrom, who worked in credit sales, declined to be interviewed. Cunningham and Vander Mel couldn’t be reached for comment. Their start date wasn’t available, said the people.
Kara Fitzsimmons, a spokeswoman for Knight Capital, declined to comment. Calls to Richard Hendrix, the chief managing officer of Arlington, Virginia-based FBR, and other officials and spokespeople at the firm weren’t returned.
Earlier this year Vik Natarajan, head of distressed-debt trading, left FBR for Knight Capital, founded in 1995.
