Aug. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Kuwait National Petroleum Co. plans to sign a 116 million-dinar ($403 million) contract next month with Italy’s Maire Tecnimont SpA for an acid gas removal project in the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery.

“Hopefully, in the first week of September,” the contract will be signed, Mohammed al-Ajmi, a spokesman for the Kuwaiti state-run refiner, said by telephone today. “There’s some paperwork still to be done.”

Mina Al-Ahmadi is the biggest of Kuwait’s three refineries and has a capacity of 460,000 barrels a day.
