The U.S. Soccer Federation has denied a U.K. media report that Bob Bradley has quit as coach of the national team.
TalkSport reported on its website today that Bradley has stepped down and will be named the new manager of Premier League club Aston Villa.
“It’s 100 percent not true,” U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe said in a telephone interview.
Bradley, 52, has been linked in U.K. media with Villa since Martin O’Neill quit as manager four days ago. The club’s American owner is said to be a big fan Bradley’s work since he took over the national team in 2007, TalkSport said.
Bradley led the U.S. to the second round of the World Cup in South Africa. He’d also been linked with the vacant job at Fulham this summer and said four days ago prior to an exhibition game against Brazil he’d love to coach in Europe at some point in his career.
