Aug. 3 (Bloomberg) -- India batsman Sachin Tendulkar became cricket’s most-capped player by appearing in his 169th Test match today in Sri Lanka.
Tendulkar, 37, had shared the mark with former Australia captain Steve Waugh, who played 168 matches from 1985 to 2004.
India must win in Colombo to draw the three-match series. Sri Lanka took the opening Test by 10 wickets and the second was drawn.
Sri Lanka batted first today after winning the toss and reached 293-4 before bad light stopped play. Thilan Samaraweera is unbeaten on 65 for the hosts, with Angelo Mathews on 26. Captain Kumar Sangakkara scored 75 and Mahela Jayawardene made 56.
