Foxconn Asks Employees to Sign No-Suicide Pledge, News Says

May 26 (Bloomberg) -- Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. asked employees to sign a pledge that they would not commit suicide and accept medical help if necessary, Ming Pao Daily News reported today, publishing a scan of the document supplied by a worker.

The Taiwanese company issued a notice to its workers at its southern Chinese factory after the latest in a spate of suicides there, the Hong Kong-based Chinese language newspaper reported.

Edmund Ding, a spokesman for Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Foxconn’s parent, wouldn’t confirm the report when contacted by phone today. Ding said the company had recently spoken to employees and asked them to not to commit suicide.
