Plane Crashes Into Toronto-Area Building, Two Dead

May 25 (Bloomberg) -- A small airplane crashed into a building close to a Toronto-area airport, killing two people on board, local police said.

The airplane crashed into the Thinkway Toys building as it was taking off from the Buttonville airport in Markham, Ontario, said York Regional Police Constable Rebecca Boyd. She didn’t have the identities of the people killed in the crash.

The plane was a Cirrus SR-20, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said in a statement, adding it would open an investigation into the crash.

The airport is Canada’s 10th busiest, according to operator Toronto Airways Ltd. A woman who answered the phone at the airport declined to comment or give her name when contacted by Bloomberg News.
