May 22 (Bloomberg) -- The Philadelphia Flyers shut out the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 to move within one game of the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Finals.
The Flyers have prevented the Canadiens from scoring in all three of their victories in the Eastern Conference final series. They own a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven competition.
After a scoreless first period, Claude Giroux and Ville Leino gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead in the second period at Bell Centre in Montreal. Giroux scored his second goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
The Flyers move to their home ice for Game 5 on May 24.
The winner of the series will play the San Jose Sharks or Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks, who have a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference series, can clinch a spot in the finals tomorrow with a win a Chicago.
