May 21 (Bloomberg) -- Doug Collins has agreed to a four-year contract to coach the National Basketball Association’s Philadelphia 76ers, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing two people it didn’t identify.

The 58-year-old Collins, who played for the 76ers from 1973-81, is an analyst for broadcaster TNT covering the Western Conference finals.

Collins coached the Chicago Bulls from 1986-89, the Detroit Pistons from 1995-98 and the Washington Wizards from 2001-03. As a 76ers player he scored 7,427 points in 415 games for an average of 17.9 points per game.

General Manager Ed Stefanski began negotiations with Collins’s agent two days ago, the Inquirer said. A contract may be signed today, the newspaper said. Collins would replace Eddie Jordan, who was fired April 15.
