Austro, Hulamin, Keaton, SacOil: South African Equity Preview

May 20 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes today in South Africa. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices reflect the previous close.

South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index dropped 398.79, or 1.5 percent, to 27,175.04 at the close in Johannesburg.

Austro Group Ltd. (ASO SJ): The distributor of carpentry tools and machinery posted a first-half net income of 42,000 rand ($5,343.51) compared with a 524,000-rand loss in the previous period. Shares were unchanged at 55 cents.

Central Rand Gold Ltd. (CRD SJ): The bullion producer said the upgrade of a metallurgical plant is complete, while progress to further equity fund-raising is on track. Central Rand shares fell 5 cents, or 5 percent, to 95 cents.

Hulamin Ltd. (HLM SJ): The Pietermaritzburg-based aluminum processor said it will raise 750 million rand in a rights offering. Hulamin rose 19 cents, or 1.9 percent, to 10.39 rand.

Investec Plc. (INL SJ): The South African investment and private bank releases annual results. Shares fell 34 cents, or 0.6 percent, to 56.99 rand.

Keaton Energy Ltd. (KEH SJ): The coal miner said in a statement that its full-year earnings per share are expected to be more than 20 percent higher than the previous year. Keaton rose 10 cents, or 1.7 percent, to 5.85 rand.

SABMiller Plc. (SAB SJ): The brewer is scheduled to release annual earnings. SABMiller rose 3.45 rand, or 1.5 percent, to 228.45 rand.

SacOil Holdings Ltd. (SCL SJ): The company previously known as SA Mineral Resources Corp. said full-year earnings will be between 0.68 cents and 0.74 cents a share. SacOil was unchanged at 20 cents.

Spescom Ltd. (SPS SJ): The technology and telecommunications company said first-half net income climbed 55 percent to 3.12 million rand ($398,350), according to a statement. Spescom’s shares were unchanged at 71 cents.

Shares or American depositary receipts of the following South African companies closed as follows:

Anglo American Plc (AAUKY US) fell 2.9 percent to $18.18. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) dropped 2.7 percent to $40.94. BHP Billiton Ltd. (BBL US) fell 1.3 percent to $53.45. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) shed 7.8 percent to $4.36. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) retreated 2 percent to $12.99. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) slipped 4.3 percent to $9.67. Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUY US) retreated 3.4 percent to $24.10. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) gained 0.3 percent to $3.57. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) fell 1.5 percent to $36.12.
