Flyers Defeat Canadiens 3-0 in NHL Eastern Conference Finals

May 18 (Bloomberg) -- The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 to take a two-game lead in the National Hockey League’s Eastern Conference finals.

Danny Briere and Simon Gagne scored power-play goals and Ville Leino capped the scoring midway through the final period tonight at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

Goalie Michael Leighton stopped 30 shots by the Canadiens.

The Flyers, who have outscored the Canadiens 9-0 so far in the series, will attempt to extend their lead to 3-0 in the best-of-seven series when they travel to Montreal on May 20.

In the Western Conference finals tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks are looking for their second win in the series against the host San Jose Sharks.
