Australia and China have had differences over the Stern Hu case and have learned to manage such issues, Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said today. The relationship is in “very good shape,” he said.
China sent four Rio Tinto Group workers, including Hu, to prison in March for infringement of commercial secrets that it said led to the failure of price talks last year. Hu is an Australian national. Hu will be transferred from a detention center to a jail in Shanghai where foreign prisoners are held, Smith told reporters in Shanghai.
