May 13 (Bloomberg) -- Poland “can’t allow” the zloty to strengthen “excessively” because such gains would hurt export-led economic growth, Deputy Finance Minister Ludwik Kotecki was quoted today as saying by PAP newswire.

While Poland continues to regard euro adoption as a strategic goal, it can’t set an entry date yet due to the fiscal crisis that has contributed to “uncertainty prevalent in the euro area,” Kotecki said, according to the agency. He added that the government’s budget forecasts of 3.5 percent economic growth and 2.3 percent average annual inflation are “cautious,” with upside and downside risks evenly balanced, PAP reported.
