May 10 (Bloomberg) -- The following is a roundup of soccer stories from U.K. newspapers, with clickable links to the Web.

Gerrard Ready to Quit?

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard may leave in the off-season for Manchester City, which is willing to pay as much as 40 million pounds ($60 million) for the 29-year-old, the Daily Mirror reported. Real Madrid is also interested in Gerrard, who has been with Liverpool since he was a teenager.

Liverpool Target

Liverpool may sign Rangers defender Danny Wilson, 18, in the next two days, the Daily Mail reported. Liverpool has increased its offer for Wilson, recently voted Scotland’s young player of the year, to 2.5 million pounds.

Wright-Phillips a Gunner?

Shaun Wright-Phillips may move to Arsenal from Manchester City in a 5 million-pound deal, the Sun reported.

Wright-Phillips, who joined City two years ago for 8.5 million pounds from Chelsea, has been “at odds” with City manager Roberto Mancini on the training ground, the paper said. The player has started only seven games, and was substituted in six of them, since Mancini took over in December.

Birmingham’s Foster Swoop

Birmingham has reached a 6 million-pound deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster, the Daily Mail reported. Foster had told the Manchester Evening News last week he was ready to leave the club to revive his career.

Birmingham may also sign Rangers striker Kris Boyd on a free transfer in the next two weeks, the paper said.

Gallas Wants More

Arsenal’s William Gallas turned down an offer for a two-year deal from the London club because it doesn’t increase his pay, the Daily Mirror said.

Gallas, 32, is out of contract. The defender is seeking a salary increase to about 100,000 pounds a week, the paper said.
