In my current column, I complain that the Netflix Web site makes it difficult to find which movies are available for streaming. Netflix has made some significant improvements to the site. If a movie is available for streaming, or what Netflix calls “instant play,” the big red “Add” button is split in two, a red “Add” button and a blue “Play.” Click on play and the title is added to your instant queue. I’d like to claim credit for the changes, but they obviously were in the works become the column appeared.

One further change I would like to see—in addition to a whole lot more shows available for streaming—would be the ability to search for instant titles only. Search is improved somewhat in that a search that turns up only DVD results also list suggested titles that are available for streaming.

All in all, it’s a big improvement.
