As i flew back from New York to Michigan, I was lamenting the slimness of Newsweek. For such good reporting, where have all the ads gone?
And then I came across a conversation with Crain Communications honcho Rance Crain. Rance has always seemed pretty off-the-hook to me. His editorials in Ad Age, I think, send his writers into groan jags. And I’ll never forget the issue of Ad Age he devoted to the Oklahoma City bombing….huh?
It’s hard to know exactly what Newsweek was thinking when they dedicated valuable pages to Rance. I’m thinking, though, that it had something to do with the sales dept. foisting something on Mr. Meacham.
