Lost and misplaced data spells enterprise amnesia

That’s what Jeff Jonas says, in so many words. He says our companies are able to gather and store more and more information, but often unable to find or make sense of it. Jonas, an IBM data wizard based in Las Vegas, calls the gap between what we “know” and what we can act on “enterprise amnesia.”

The trouble is that our tools to gather and store data (cheaply) are growing faster than Moore’s law. We cannot process it all. The only way to narrow the gap and battle enterprise amnesia is to create… (drum beat) … smarter algorithms.
