S&P MARKETSCOPE: We're seeing a short covering rally in the oil sector that has been beaten down recently. October WTI crude off was up 26 cents to $67.76 a barrel before the Dept. of Energy report, due at 10:30 am EDT, which Platts expects to show crude oil stocks fell 1.6 million barrels a day.
October heating oil futures was up 0.60 cent to 191.70 cents as distillates expected to rise 1.1 million barrels. October gasoline futures was up 1.00 cents to 165.00 cents as stocks seen falling 650,000 barrels.
