Here's a nut to crack. Is there a way to track the growth of the creation and distribution online of music, videos, audio shows from individuals (outside the walls of the traditional studios, networks, and labels)?
With BigChampagne you can track the number of files downloaded on P2P networks. And then there are surveys from Pew et al. about the amount of time and the types of things that people are creating on their own. But I haven't been able to find another way of measuring the explosion of consumer/user-generated work. (ANd also, is there a better word for this)?
