MARKETSCOPE : The dollar was weakening Monday, after having surged in value on Friday.

One dollar bought 117.63 yen, compared to 118.27 yen at the previous session's close.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway unit has reduced its bet against the dollar after suffering a $900 million loss.

The euro moved to $1.1813 from $1.1823, after news that Eurozone September Retail Sales dropped 0.4% after rising 0.7% in August, which was revised down from 0.9%. The data beat expectations of a 1.1% decline. German September Industrial Production rose 1.2%, stronger than forecast.
