Dollar Dn Against the Euro

Investors waited to find out how Europeans will move on their rates soon, after the Federal Open Market Committee hiked interest rates by 25 basis points on Tuesday

MARKETSCOPE : The dollar weakened against the euro on Wednesday, as investors waited to see what European monetary authorities will do to their rates in the coming days.

The euro was at $1.2068 near closing time from $1.1998 earlier Wednesday. The European Central Bank will meet and discuss interest rates at its meeting Thursday.

The sterling was at $1.7768 from $1.7649, as investors waited to see what the Bank of England will do to rates at its policy meeting next week.

The dollar was at 116.82 yen, down from its 2-year high of 116.95 yen earlier Wednesday.

The Federal Open Market Committee already hiked interest rates in the U.S. by 25 basis points on Tuesday.
