Broadcasting and Cable writes that CBS "is gearing up to solicit video clips from the average Joe and Jane" and plans to hire people to sift through the clips. Many in mainstream media are reaching out to the do it yourself crowd, but increasingly, with upstart networks like Rocketboom and OurMedia there are plenty of aggregated distribution alternatives for creative and news types. Maybe that will also lead to relationships between the oldline and newline networks. Definitely it means the reworking of business models and the need to actively figure out a spot in the new world for mainstream media.
