Thomas Weisel Raises Pixar Estimates

Analyst Gordon Hodge says the digital animation studio's newest movie will hold up against the competition

Thomas Weisel raised estimates for digital animation studio Pixar (PIXR ).

Analyst Gordon Hodge says Pixar reported better-than-expected September-quarter results, with revenues of $44.5 million, 55% above his $28.6 million estimate. The results were related to continued upside from Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. home video sales, and higher-than-expected library revenue.

While he thinks mid-week results for The Incredibles may not be as high as Nemo's, he thinks The Incredibles will hold up well despite competition this weekend from Warner Brother's Polar Express. He raises his $239 million 2004 revenue estimate to $251 million, $2.00 earnings per share to $2.15, $258 million 2005 revenue estimate to $278 million, and $1.60 earnings per share to $1.85.
