St. Paul Companies (SPC ) agrees to acquire Travelers Property Casualty (TAPA ) in a stock swap valued at roughly $16 billion. Terms: 0.4334 St. Paul share per Travelers share. (11/17)

Auto-parts supplier ArvinMeritor (ARM ) raises its hostile bid for rival Dana Corp. (DCN ) to $18 a share, or about $2.68 billion, from $15 a share. The company said it would terminate the latest offer on Dec. 2 unless Dana's board of directors agree to begin negotiating a merger agreement, according to news reports. (11/17)

DuPont (DD ) agrees to sell textile unit Invista to subsidiaries of Koch Industries, Inc., for $4.4 billion. (11/17)

New Brunswick Scientific (NBSC ) acquires RS Biotech Laboratory Equipment Ltd. of Irvine, Scotland for undisclosed terms. New Brunswick says RS Biotech has annual sales of about $3 million and that the acquisition will be immediately add to NBSC's earnings. (11/17)
