The BBC's war coverage is luring new viewers and listeners to the service, whose broadcasts reach 460 million households worldwide. Can the BBC hang on to that audience now that the shooting has stopped?


The international TV news channel is seen in 254 million households in 200 countries. That includes the 35 million subscribers in the U.S. who receive its cable channel BBC America, which has a partnership with Discovery Networks and another 90 million homes that tune into BBC news reports on 221 public-TV stations.


Its legendary radio broadcast is translated into 43 languages to more than 150 million listeners worldwide (3.9 million in the U.S.).


International Web sites offer news and information in 43 languages. In March, it got 220 million page views -- 58 million from the U.S.
