Nestle Agrees to Acquire Chef America

Nestle's (NSRGY ) Nestle Holdings unit agreed to acquire privately-held Chef America, maker of the Hot Pockets brand of frozen sandwiches, for $2.6 billion cash, including the assumption of debt. (8/06)

Johnson Controls (JCI ) agrees to acquire German battery manufacturer Varta AG's automotive-battery division for 312.5 million euros ($302.5 million). (8/06)
