Yahoo Inks Deal to Acquire HotJobs.com

AngloGold increases bid for Normandy Mining, and more merger news

Yahoo Inc.'s (YHOO ) says it will acquire HotJobs.com (HOTJ ) for $436 million, or $10.50 per share. The deal was sealed after TMP Worldwide Inc. (TMPW ) said it would not sweeten its $378 million takeover offer for HotJobs.com (HOTJ ). (12/27)

South African gold miner AngloGold Ltd. (AU ) increases its bid for Australian gold producer Normandy Mining Ltd. to about 4.1 billion Australian dollars (US$2.08 billion), an increase of 10 Australian cents a share. The new offer values Normandy stock at A$1.84 a share, three Australian cents shy of the friendly offer from U.S.-based rival Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM ). AngloGold also says it is in partnership talks with Canada's Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX ). (12/27)

Nestle SA agrees to pay $641 million to acquire General Mills Inc.'s (GIS ) 50% ownership stake in Ice Cream Partners USA, which owns the Haagen-Dazs brand. In October, Nestle said it would buy the 50% share of the venture that it didn't already own from Pillsbury, which is owned by General Mills. (12/27)

Entercom (ETM ) says it will acquire three radio stations in Denver, Co. from Tribune's (TRB ) Tribune Broadcasting Co. for $180 million. (12/26)

Patterson-UTI Energy (PTEN ) says it will acquire 17 land-based drilling rigs from Cleere Drilling Co. for $13.5 million in cash, 450,000 PTEN shares, and 325,000 warrants. (12/26)

Adolph Coors Co. (RKY ) says it will acquire the Carling beer business and other brands from Belgium's Interbrew SA for $1.7 billion. Adolf Coors beat rival offers from Heineken NV of the Netherlands and two British private-equity firms, according to the Wall Street Journal. (12/24)

A group led by NCH Corp.'s (NCH ) president says it will to buy all the NCH shares not currently owned at $52.50 each. (12/24)

Datastream (DSTM ) says it will evaluate MRO Software's (MROI ) $6 per share cash and stock takeover offer, and will respond "in due course." (12/21)

CKE Restaurants (CKE ) will acquire Santa Barbara Restaurant Group (SBRG ). Terms: each SBRG share to be converted into right to receive 0.50 CKE share, and is subject to price limitations. (12/21)
