In our issue of Oct. 30, 2000, we ran an article called "Surf at your own risk". It described how a Boston-based company, Pharmatrak Inc., surreptitiously tracked computer users who visited the Web sites of 11 pharmaceutical companies. Unfortunately, the article used information and wording without attribution from a similar story that ran earlier in The Washington Post. We deeply regret this incident. We apologize to our readers and to The Washington Post for this breach of journalistic standards.
