YOU MAY ALREADY BE A defendant! Florida Attorney General Robert Butterworth is suing celebrity spokesmen Ed McMahon and Dick Clark and the American Family Publishers sweepstakes that they represent alleging deceptive trade practices and unlawful game promotions. Butterworth charges that recent mailings for an $11 million sweepstakes campaign are deceptive and caused several elderly recipients to fly to Tampa, where they expected to be able to claim a prize. American Family Publishers maintains that the suit is without merit and that the language contained in its mailings is "perfectly clear." McMahon and Clark had no comment.
