BUSINESS WEEK erred in writing that IBM Chairman Louis V. Gerstner Jr. cut the company's workforce nearly in half ("The Question at IBM: Who's second-in-charge here?" News: Analysis & Commentary, Dec. 8). When Gerstner joined IBM in 1993, the company had already slashed 150,000 jobs over a seven-year period. Gerstner cut IBM's workforce by an additional 35,000 jobs.
