I found it ironic that you were hailing the new service orientation at General Electric Co. ("Jack Welch's encore," Cover Story, Oct. 28) at the same time I was awaiting a response from his office regarding a service complaint.

My request for repair service illuminated surprising deficiencies in listening, customer concern, and internal and external communications. I was extremely inconvenienced by GE's lack of service.
