SPORTS FANS, PREPARE ONCE more to be outraged: San Francisco's windswept Candlestick Park, home to baseball's Giants and football's 49ers, appears set to become 3Com Park. That's 3Com, as in the Silicon Valley maker of networking gear. 3Com is ready to pay up to $2 million a year to help finance $25 million in renovations the 36-year-old stadium needs to host pro football's 1999 Super Bowl. The company hopes for increased recognition among consumers, who are increasingly driving PC sales.
